The Jacaranda wood is locally and sustainably sourced and takes the shape of a dove, symbolizing peace. The skilful freehand carving technique used to carve the dove is passed from one generation to the next.

About the craftsmanship
Congolese wood carving has been used for generations to create a wide variety of intricately made objects, including masks and ceremonial objects, as well as everyday functional items. These carvings often reflect the rich cultural traditions, spiritual beliefs, and social practices of the different ethnic groups and communities in the DRC.
